Scott Kennedy's - Bio/Artist Statement

Scott H. Kennedy was born and raised in Minneapolis, MN, and now resides in one of its western suburbs, Plymouth. Raised by a family who loved the arts, Scott quickly picked up a fascination for visually stimulating shapes and eye pleasing composition. Staying away from controversial and objective subjects, feeling there was "enough of that crap around" he stayed with more introspective subject matters.

Scott received a BFA both Graphic Design and Sculpture. For the past 15 years Scott has been making his mark in the hectic field of Advertising and working on his fine art addiction in the evening. In his own words, he's an "art director by day and a fine artist by night."

Scott enjoys the creative quiet time that sculpting and painting allows him. It is extremely different than being an art director with everyone wanting a piece of you. During his studio time Scott pulls influences from his life, feelings and surroundings, none dominate his work more than his wife and children.

As you look at Scott's bronzes you can see the intense emotion with which they evolved. A work of bronze is not something taken lightly, many hours have been dedication to that particular piece. Scott begins by sketching it out on paper, then doing a small model in clay. It's at this crucial point whether you decide you love it enough to dedicate the next month or more producing it in bronze or not. Scott has the sensibility and the eye to make that choice.

Scott has recently returned to his painting, which he loves but never seems to have enough time to paint as much as he likes.
